It will only take 120 miles south on the 5 freeway to start your weekend adventure off right. San Diego is a perfect weekend getaway for Angelenos. You can drive down in a few hours, fly down, or take the Amtrak train along the coast for the scenic route.

There are many popular tourist destinations like Sea World, the famous San Diego Zoo, and Legoland, as well as the mini beachfront amusement park, Belmont Park. Take a surfing lesson on the island of Coronado, or head to one of the many beautiful beaches. Try a new hiking spot, or catch a Padres or Chargers game.

Whether you’re looking for great steak, seafood, Italian, or American, San Diego offers it all. There are also many street and holiday festivals throughout the year which offer a unique local experience. See what’s coming up soon to plan your visit.

At night, the trendy Gaslamp Quarter is where you’ll find the greatest clubs and bars in the city. It has everything from laid back beach bars and taverns, to secret 1920s speakeasies, to swanky Hollywood spots.

There are a range of affordable and luxury hotels alike in San Diego in order to fit almost any budget. You can get around to most places by foot and cab;however, if you prefer to venture further out, you may want your car.

Traffic getting down to San Diego will be the worst on weekend afternoons and weekdays at rush hours. If you can avoid these times, getting down and back up to LA should be a breeze. Enjoy your trip!
